Let’s have a short retrospective on the biggest moments in cycling of 2021.
### Mathieu van der Poel in yellow
It was Mathieu van der Poels first Tour de France. The king of cross and rising
star in road cycling did want to win a stage and get into the yellow jersey in
remembrance of his grandfather Poupou who back in his days became second at the
tour several times but never wore the yellow jersey. Mathieu managed to
accomplish that goal on the second stage and managed to keep the yellow jers
I just did an FTP test to dial my training plans in according to my current power. The result were 260 W. One year ago I did 233 W. The last time I was around 260 W was in March of 2021.
This is still preliminary. I hope to find a MTB race in spring that's not on 7th of May. And maybe I will do one or two races in August and September.

After the mens race today, tomorrow we have the olympic womens race on the agenda. Prepare yourself for a race with many favourites and fierce battles for the medals.

Tomorrow the olympic mens mountainbike race of the Tokyo 2020 olympics takes place on the Izu MTB course. Here are the favourites you should keep an eye on

So you might know Wout van Aert by now. He just won three stages of the Tour de France. And it’s still strange for me to see him riding so superb on the road. I “know” Wout van Aert from Cyclocross

This year is the first year I am able to follow a training plan more or less strictly. This is is also the first year I created a training plan by myself. During the last years I tried many different training platforms.

This is the international race calendar on the highest level in cross country for next year. The world wide Covid-19 pandemic is still going on so all these dates could be postponed or even cancellad as seen in the just finished season of 2020.

When I got to know Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt she was World Champion in three cycling disciplines. In Cross Country, Cyclocross and on the Road. But she had a serious low. In the first race I saw with her she pulled out after some laps and stood at the sideline to cheer up her team mates.

After a very short Cross Country season as a conclusion we have two worthy European Champions on the driest course we saw this year.

Last weekend I participated for the first time in the Mesa Parts Trail Hype here in the deep south west of Germany in the Black Forest. It was much harder than I anticipated. In fact it might have been the hardest race I ever did.
