My Bikes: Cube LTD CC 2009

I thought I would start with a series featuring the bikes I have at the moment. Starting with my oldest one.

I always likes cycling. In 2008 I started to ride more and more off road. So I needed a real mountainbike. What I wanted back then was a full suspension all mountain bike. But I was in the middle of my study and didn't have much money. After I started my first job I was able to by a Cube LTD CC. This is a hardtail XC bike with 80 mm of front suspension.

This bike was good enough to get the mountainbiking flame in my heart light up. In the following years I participated in several marathon races in south-west Germany with this bike.

In 2013 I lived in berlin and the Cube was just my secondary bike by then. It was rarely used and I didn't really maintain it very well. So in 2016 the Cube was completely unridable. The shifting was rusty and the bike became a single speed bike, despite having a cassette and a front deraillieur. Luckily I made the decision to not sell it for 10€ but rebuild it as a city bike. I bought a new wheelset and mounted the SRAM NX group. This was my first try with a one-by system. It was a really good decision because suddenly the bike became my favourite bike although I had another mountainbike and a race bike by then. I used the bike to get around Berlin. Sometimes even with a trailer.

This is still the state of the Cube. But now I have a much longer commute to do every day. Now I use this bike very rarely for grocery shopping or other short rides in our village. Sometimes guests use it, but that's it. At the moment I don't really know what to do with it. If I'm honest I don't need it anymore. But I still like it. And maybe at some point I will need it again more often for shopping. So I will keep it for now as long as it doesn't bother me.
